The Chinatown Revitalisation Project has been recognised with an award for Excellence in Urban Renewal. Broome Shire President, Harold Tracey, says the award is due recognition for the whole of the Broome community that collaborated on the exciting project.

  • Inaugural Chinatown Discovery Festival from 24-26 May will feature the Pearlers’ Games along with a series of special arts and heritage events.

  • Pearlers’ Games to revive the Chinatown Games that last occurred in 2002.

  • Community members invited to enter as individuals, teams or corporate teams.

Crucial steps have been taken to keep foot traffic coming through the doors of traders affected by Chinatown roadworks as the multimillion-dollar transformation of Broome’s CBD rolls on. 

Streetscape upgrades began on Carnarvon Street earlier this month, between Napier Terrace and Short Street, as part of the $13.5 million Chinatown Revitalisation Project.
