We have created this Traders page to help keep owners and traders of Chinatown informed and up to date on activities and construction works happening in the precinct.

Construction in Chinatown: Monday 8 October - Saturday 22 December 2018
Roads will re-open from 22 December 2018. From mid-February there will be short term road closures and traffic re-directions occurring while hard and soft landscaping is being completed (shade structures, planting etc.). Estimated project finish is April/ May 2019.
Road-workers onsite: Monday to Saturday 7am – 5pm each week
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout construction with all shops open as normal.
The Chinatown Revitalisation Project is assisting with deliveries and rubbish collection while roads are closed.

New timed 2 hour free parking will be in place for some central locations within Chinatown during the wet season to allow for consistent turnover of customer parking. Free all-day parking is available at the Visitor Centre and Paspaley Plaza off Short Street and additional free all-day parking will be available on Male Oval off Carnarvon Street.

Downer EDI Works have been awarded contract for streetscape and public realm improvement works, which include the Carnarvon St and Dampier Tce upgrades commencing this month (September 2018). To read the full story, please click here.
On 3 September 2018, Harby Studios ran a marketing workshop for Chinatown Traders. This workshop covered low cost marketing initiatives that could be implemented during and post construction.

The RFQ for the Carnarvon Street and Dampier Terrace street works is currently being advertised and we expect to have a contractor on board by August 2018. A detailed program for the construction works will be developed with the preferred contractor and we will be keeping you informed as this progresses, however a key focus will be to stage and schedule the works to prevent disruption to business.
