CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - CHINATOWN BROOME

Construction Update

Construction is back in full swing after a short break over the holiday period.

Works are continuing on Short Street and Napier Terrace road surfaces, with kerbing and construction of retaining walls underway.

Major roadworks on Carnarvon Street North

The next major road closure will be Carnarvon Street North, from Short Street to Gray Street. This section of the road will close on Monday 18 January, with works expected to be completed in May.

Traffic management will be in place on Short Street during the road closures to help direct traffic and pedestrians.

Pedestrian crossings will be open at either end of Carnarvon Street with access maintained to all businesses:

  • The post office will be accessible to vehicles via Gray Street, with access off Dampier Terrace.

  • Paspaley Plaza pedestrian access will be maintained as per usual, along with the western side footpaths of Carnarvon Street.

  • BWS, ANZ and Monsoonal Blues can be easily accessed via a temporary parking area on the eastern side of Carnarvon Street, accessible from Gray Street.

Don’t forget there is plenty of undercover parking available upstairs in the Paspaley Plaza car park (the 2,250mm height limit is suitable for most 4WDs). From the upper deck there are two staircases (one close to the back of the post office), and a lift to ground level to access all shops in Paspaley Plaza and the western side of Carnarvon Street.

Information regarding access and roadwork maps for construction areas, including temporary road closures and alternative parking, is being advertised in the paper, on radio, and through our social media channels, as well as on the Chinatown website. Traders can also contact Julia, Chinatown Coordinator on 9191 8738 or by email to find out more.
