What a difference a month makes! All the roads in Chinatown are now fully re-opened to traffic and we’re finishing off footpaths, terraces and landscaping throughout the project area. Here’s a street-by-street look at what’s happening as we approach the last few weeks of the project.

The 16th February 2018 marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year, a celebration marked by parades, family gatherings, and lots of delicious food across Asia. But what is Chinese New Year all about?
The new Roebuck Bay Lookout at the corner of Dampier Terrace and Frederick Street will be the first project under the banner of the Broome Chinatown Revitalisation to start construction, and is out for tender in February 2018.
In 2017, Broome was invited to ‘Paint the Town Red’ at a monthly trial for late night trading in Chinatown. The sentiment of all involved in the 2017 trials was positive, and planning is now underway to continue late night trading in 2018.

Corrugated Lines: A Festival of Words – Broome’s Annual Writers and Readers Festival – held a number of events in partnership with the Chinatown Revitalisation Project over 11-13 August 2017.
The Chinatown Revitalisation is pleased to announce the first four successful projects in its recent grant funding round for activation initiatives and lane way enhancements.
Local and visiting performers will serenade shoppers and café goers through their Sunday mornings in Chinatown from 13 August, playing tunes at various locations as part of the Music Mornings initiative.
