In 2017, Broome was invited to ‘Paint the Town Red’ at a monthly trial for late night trading in Chinatown. The sentiment of all involved in the 2017 trials was positive, and planning is now underway to continue late night trading in 2018.

During this year we will be undertaking construction works to improve the streetscape, working with the community to deliver events, and supporting businesses to improve the area’s offering.

Investigations into the development of the Kimberley Centre for Culture, Art and Story continue with the sixth project update being released.

Broome is invited to ‘Paint the Town Red’ again on Friday 13 October as Chinatown comes alive with late night trading and entertainment until 8pm.

The Broome community is being asked to provide feedback on an exciting draft Master Plan to transform Carnarvon St and Dampier Tce as part of the Chinatown Revitalisation Project, with public consultation to start on 9 October 2017.

Corrugated Lines: A Festival of Words – Broome’s Annual Writers and Readers Festival – held a number of events in partnership with the Chinatown Revitalisation Project over 11-13 August 2017.
